Nevada Welcomes the Intergalactic Tourist

"Nevada Welcomes the Intergalactic Tourist"," In Nevada's State Route 375 was designated the Extraterrestrial Highway more than a decade ago by state officials, all part of a promotion for the movie, ""Independence Day.
 Not me, I'm a Nevadan.
""

Nevada's former Governor Robert Miller said in jest, at the highway naming ribbon cutting ceremonies in 1996.
Area 51 is a classified military installation that the government claims doesn't exist.
Some believe that the base is used to store exotic spaceships and bodies of captured aliens.

Whether fact or fiction, a Nevada highway has been devoted to Extraterrestrials, a highway that runs 98 miles, between Ash Springs and Warm Springs.
The hazy blue and purple mountains' majestic.
One of Rachel's scant business establishments is the Little A'Le Inn (pronounced Alien), a bar and grill.

Nearly 370 million years ago, legitimate scientists believe that the area near Rachel was visited by a heavenly body.
Ground zero for this comet collision with earth may have been about 20 miles from Rachel, near today's Extraterrestrial Highway.
Its size thought to be two-thirds of a mile wide.
There are few places on the globe so remote and God forsaken as highway 375.
The road stretches out ahead with a monochrome desert and distant mountains the only scene.
Most people have no reason to travel out here.
Civilian aircraft aren't allowed by law to fly over the Nevada Test Site, but extraterrestrials are seemingly welcomed to do so.
The surmising continues to draw visitors to the area, hoping to get a peek.
Some will merely smile with a wry smile to the questioner.
The Test Site, as it is locally known, once had a Cold War mission of detonating nuclear weapons.
The Test Site has recently taken a new focus.

The spirit and opportunity for discovery in the desert are always nearby when you explore Nevada.

Getting There

Take U. S
93 north from Las Vegas past Ash Springs then left onto Highway 375.
Once arriving in Rachel the ""Extraterrestrial Highway"" signs are easily spotted.
It has a casual atmosphere, with walls decked in extraterrestrial and other outer space memorabilia.
A visit to your local library might bring you closer to a definitive answer.
